House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Approves National Service Funding

Today the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies of the House Appropriations Committee reported out legislation recommending $843,381,000 for the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and its programs for fiscal year 2008.  The numbers break down as follows:

Domestic Volunteer Service Act
AmeriCorps*VISTA:               $95,468,000
Senior Corps:                         $217,586,000
RSVP:                                            $59,685,000
Foster Grandparents:                 $110,937,000
Senior Companions:                  $46,964,000

National and Community Service Act
AmeriCorps Grants:                         $255,625,000
NCCC:                                                $11,620,000
National Service Trust:                    $122,521,000
Learn and Serve America:              $37,125,000
Innovation and Demonstration:     $13,000,000
Evaluation:                                          $3,960,000
Partnership Grants:                          $0
State Commission Grants:             $12,000,000

Other
Salaries and Expenses:              $68,964,000
Office of Inspector General:         $5,512,000

Total for CNCS:              $843,381,000
