More than 600 bank employees to volunteer for 14 charities in Southeast Michigan
TROY, Mich., May 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- National City will close the lobbies of 120 Southeastern Michigan branches from 1-5 p.m. on Wednesday May 9, 2007 for a dynamic initiative that will benefit local charities. More than 600 National City employees will volunteer for 14 local charities at 22 locations as part of the first annual Community Appreciation Day. Drive- through windows and ATMS will remain open to serve customers.

National City employees will spend the afternoon of May 9 engaged in a wide variety of much needed charitable tasks including outdoor and indoor projects such as landscaping, gardening, painting, filing and other spring clean-up activities.

Big Brothers Big Sisters (Southfield) - An organization that helps strengthen children in need through one-to-one relationships with volunteers.
Christmas in Action (Troy, Waterford and Pontiac) - An organization that builds community partnerships and provides free home repairs for low-income seniors to remain safely in their homes.
Community Housing (Auburn Hills, Waterford and Madison Heights) - A community development corporation dedicated to providing affordable housing and services for low-to moderate-income individuals and families.
Community Living Services (Wayne) - An organization that promotes inclusion, full citizenship and self-determined life for people with developmental disabilities.
Judson Center (Royal Oak) - An organization that provides services for children, adults and families that includes adoption services, foster care, autism programs, family preservation, outpatient mental health/counseling and respite care.
Habitat for Humanity (Detroit and Mt. Clemens) - An organization that builds affordable housing in partnership with the community for families in need.
Huron Valley Boys & Girls Club (Ypsilanti) - A club that provides a safe place for children to learn and grow and it offers life enhancing programs, character building experiences, hope and opportunity.
Monroe County Opportunity Program (Monroe) - A private community action agency that reduces the effects of poverty by providing opportunities, service and diverse affordable housing options.
Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency (Howell and Hartland) - An agency whose sole purpose is to eliminate the causes and conditions of poverty.
Penrickton Center for Blind Children (Taylor) - A private school for the blind and multi-disabled children ages 1-12.
Senior Alliance of Wayne County (Belleville, Westland, Wayne and Canton) - An organization that provides assistance for seniors in Wayne County.
Shelby Community Foundation (Shelby Township) - An organization that enhances the quality of life and community livability for Shelby citizens.
U-Snap-Bac (Detroit) - An organization that provides home improvement programs for low income families, including new housing development and rehab of vacant homes.
Wayne-Metro community Action Agency (Taylor) An agency that provides a wide range of comprehensive services to low-income individuals and families.
